Synopsis:
A few days after retiring from his job as probation officer, Jack Mabry (Robert De Niro) is commissioned to review the case of Gerald "Stone" Creeson (Edward Norton), jailed for covering up the murder of his grandparents with a fire. Now there is the possibility of receiving a pardon in advance, Stone needs to convince Jack that he is rehabilitated. However, their attempts to influence the final decision of the veteran agent causing severe and unexpected effects for both.
